I get these weekly updates from BabyCenter.com and since before Dom was born I have been obsessing about whether he’s reached the milestones listed in the articles.
I know, every kid is different, but anyone who knows me knows that I’m naturally paranoid about this sort of things. Not my favorite character trait, but still a fact.
Of course, one thing he is ahead of the curve on is this one on “climbing.” Again, not my favorite but still a fact.
Dom has been climbing since before he could walk. His little arm muscles bulging as he pulled himself up on anything and everything. When he figured his legs out it was a wrap. Now that he’s a veteran, he’s doing the Ph.D level stuff like re-arranging our furniture for maximum height. And pretending he was just checking out the kitchen table for termites, not preparing to leap from it.
My mother in law told me about when my husband was a toddler and she found him sitting ON TOP of the refrigerator. Then she told me “I’m Sorry.”
So for now I will continue to keep my eye on “stunt baby.” And maybe for his 2nd birthday we’ll buy him a parachute.
